SOULMATES
Soulmates is a celebration of underground soulful house music. After several years of running one-off parties at venues around London, in 2004 Soulmates made AKA its home and has gone from strength to strength ever since. It has carved out a niche for itself in being one of the few nights in London where you can hear brilliantly soulful, yet genuinely underground house music month after month.
Soulmates’ refreshing music policy and insistence on quality control puts paid to any stereotypes often attached to soulful house, and has resulted in one of the finest crowds in London. Soul heads to jazz dancers to music industry workers to a big crowd of friendly and in-the-know music lovers can all be found shaking a leg on the Soulmates dancefloor, making for a wonderfully inclusive, family vibe at each and every night.
The first Thursday of the month has been Soulmates night for two years, with guests including the likes of Karizma, Alix Alvarez, Greg Gauthier and Good Vibes joining the superb residents Denis Christensen and Rap Saunders behind the turntables - plus regular support from guests on percussion and on the mic. They continually provide a regular opportunity for the public to listen to the very best in underground house music in a relaxed, friendly and attitude-free environment at AKA. This is an evening everyone should experience.
