SANCHO PANZA
Sancho Panza have long been associated with AKA, first stepping into the DJ booth around 2001, and quickly establishing their monthly Saturday night residency as the perfect Saturday night soundtrack.
Sancha Panza, aka DJs Matt Brown & Jimmy K-Tel, started with humble beginnings, in a basement in North London on New Years Eve 1992. They have since gone on to host parties in film studios, old cinemas, photography studios, old embassies, on the Thames and even on the streets of the Philippines! Their DJing exploits have taken them to all of London’s quality venues, however it’s their long running Notting Hill Carnival soundsystem that really made their name.
The Sancho Panza Soundsystem’s award winning debut year was in 1994, and in the years since then it has become one of Notting Hill Carnival’s finest attractions with over 10,000 people at their stage each year for two days of partying. Every year one surprise guest from the extended Sancho family joins Jimmy and Matt behind the decks - these have included Craig Richards, Lee Burridge, and Layo & Bushwacka!
The Layo & Bushwacka! connection brought them to AKA, and their Sancho Panza night as part of As One has brought with it their Carnival-tinged underground house and that unmistakable August Bank Holiday vibe! You can now find Matt Brown and Jimmy K-Tel shaking AKA on the last Saturday of every month.
See our 'What's On' section for details of the next Sancho Panza party. |
