Having recognised the difficulty in getting published, Ruby Ocean, Kate Abbott and Kay Wrate founded Volume to promote artists, writers and musicians by giving them a platform for their work. Based largely on submissions including writing, painting, photography and interviews with budding musicians, the magazine acts as a platform from which new talent can showcase their abilities. They feature a directory of all contributors, enabling peers and potential employers to access their details for networking purposes.
September 2007 sees the launch of Volume's first exhibition at AKA where the work of some of their contributors will be on show. The work spans across painting, photography and film from five new exciting London based artists, whilst the launch party features some of the most exciting new live acts in music.
ALFA
One of the six pillars of the infamous 'Soopa Doopa' Crew, ALFA brings many creative talents to the table; he is an illustrator, graphic designer, aerosol artist and general lover of all things creative. Hailing from the deep southern countryside, he was bred on a strict diet of art, skateboarding and general mischief. Since moving to London he has quickly adjusted to the hectic city life. Known for a fast turnover of characters, his work has become notorious among black book pages, on canvases and on walls.

Coral Churchill
Coral Churchill works with bright, luminescent colour, painting reminiscent forms that remain just unrecognisable. Dark void backgrounds reference deep sea and space photography, while free form improvised structures unfurl in the foreground. Morphologies are the foundation to the ideas behind the work. Different mediums are layered into composites that form mindscapes, the colours neon and fluorescence, reflecting bioluminescence. Recent works have been based on biomorphic forms, which are sampled and reconstructed from different terrains, electron micrographs and television images.
Coral Churchill was born in 1984, and graduated this year from Central Saint Martins with a degree in Fine Art.

Will Strange
Originally hailing from Brighton but now firmly rooted in London's sprawling embrace, Will Strange is a photographer who is making waves on the London photographic scene as a photo-portraitist and as a documenter of the 'everyday'.
Will is a firm adherent of the "digital darkroom" and spends anything between thirty minutes and five hours on all of his images in post-production. His passion in photography has taken him to all corners of the world and into the workplaces of the rich and famous, always with his insatiable appetite to take pictures that will impel people stop, think and be moved.
