Always double check What’s On before heading down, our midweek opening hours can be subject to change |
And
where exactly are you? 18 West Central Street, London WC1. We’re on a small side street, just near where Shaftesbury Avenue meets New Oxford Street, a few mins walk from Tottenham Court Road or Holborn tube stations .Our building’s bright blue – you can’t miss us. Check out our marvellous map. |
What
music can I expect to hear? Our music policy is fairly broad
but essentially encompasses quality house, so expect to hear variations on this
theme throughout the week, from lounge-vibe house beats to disco, electro and
latino flavours. If you’re after a more detailed daily breakdown look
here |
Why
do your cocktails taste so good? We could waffle on about the fine
fresh fruit we use, and our exquisite high quality spirits…but one of the
main reasons is that our bartenders spend a lot of time devoting themselves to
research and drinking a helluva lot of cocktails in search of that perfect taste! |
What
security measures do you have on the door? We have a highly trained and fully registered door team who have been with us for over 7 years. For the safety of all our customers bag searches are carried out on the door. We operate a policy of no re-admission and reserve the right to refuse entry.
Why
is your building painted blue? Because we like to promote feelings
of tranquillity and inner calm (and we had a lot of blue paint in our store cupboard). |
Is
there a dress code? Dress up or dress down but no suits
please... |
Is
entry free? There is no entrance fee in the early
part of the evening.
Door charges do apply from 11pm on Tuesdays (except to Players members). Wednesdays
are free all night, and Thursdays we charge from 10pm. There is a charge from
11pm on Fridays and 9pm on Saturdays. The entrance fee for Sunday nights varies, so please
check out what’s on before you come down |
Do
you have disabled access? AKA is on ground floor level and is fully wheelchair accessible. Due to the noisy environment, guide dogs are not allowed. Both bars are probably too high for wheelchair users, however our friendly staff will always assist with bar and waitress service. The Mezzanine is up a flight of 21 steps. A fully accessible unisex toilet is available on the ground floor. We advise wheelchair users, or people with mobility restrictions, or any other enquiries relating to venue access to contact Gill on 020 7836 0110 in advance of your visit. Download more detailed information here. |
Do
you run a membership scheme? Just on a Tuesday, our industry night The Players has its own special scheme. Membership for this night is free and open to anyone who works in the hospitality industry. Bartenders, waiters, hoteliers, DJs, chefs, tequila girls, croupiers - the night owls amongst us. Members not only receive a fancy card, they’re also entitled to free entry, discounted drinks and access to The Players members only VIP bar. |
Can
I reserve an area? Absolutely. AKA is best shared with
friends, and our flexible booking policy means we can accommodate you and yours
whatever your plans, from booking a couple of seats at the bar to hiring our Mezzanine
Bar for an exclusive champagne reception. Click here for more information on bookings. |
Is
AKA available for private hire? As a space we’re ultra versatile and can act as the perfect canvas for whatever you want to do, whether it’s a private party, dinner, launch event, conference or film shoot. We’re happy to discuss all of your event needs with you but first read more about what’s on offer. |
How
can I DJ at AKA? Budding DJs should send their demo
in to the Promotions team. If you’re an independent promoter looking to
put on your own night here just drop us a line: info@akalondon.com |
Do
you have a guest list? Our guest list is mainly reserved
for press requests. If that’s you please contact the lovely ladies in the
press office info@akalondon.com or give them a call on 020 7836 0110. |
